One of the Costa del Sol's main attractions has always been its magnificent collection of golf courses, and people have come from far and near to indulge their love of the game in attractive and challenging locations. Andalucia's southern regions are host to a large choice of championship courses, and golf's "Golden Triangle" is bounded by the Valderrama course, Sotogrande's Marina and Polo courses and San Roque's two championship eighteen-hole courses, which are soon to be joined by a third, nine-hole course.

San Roque Club boasts two magnificent 18-hole golf courses set in spectacular countryside, encompassing ancient cork oak reserves. There are plans to develop another course, this time of nine holes - plenty of good reasons for residential projects within the San Roque club grounds to attract aficionados of the sport! To meet the demand, the development of the San Roque Golf Resort continues apace, with the commencement of Fairways Green, a development of semi-detached villas and town houses overlooking hole 13 of one of San Roque's superb golf courses.

Fairways Green will provide 15 spacious semi-detached villas and townhouses, which are all built facing south-west along the natural slope of the green and strategically positioned to obtain maximum golf views, as well as panoramic views of the mountains and countryside. Set in a cul-de-sac, the villas form an exclusive community within their own communal garden, although each villa has its own spacious private terraces for family enjoyment.

The townhouses have three bedrooms and the villas have either four or five bedrooms. All are being built to high-quality specifications, as befits a development set in such a prestigious site. Townhouses have 298 square metres of living area, while the four and five bedroom villas have 414 and 508 square metres, respectively. Each residence has parking space for two cars, with fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms, marble flooring throughout and many decorative features. Privacy in the townhouses is ensured by a high level of insulation in partition walls and protection from the elements is provided by double glazing and sturdy walls, which have been insulated to a high standard. Security features have been incorporated in the design and there is a fitted safe in each master bedroom. All installations necessary for comfortable living are pre-installed, including all essential electrodomestics in the kitchen. To comply with forthcoming environmental legislation, there are separate systems for the drainage of rainwater and domestic waste.

Close by the Fairways Green development is one of the newer attractions of the San Roque Club, the Mark Philips Equestrian Centre, which is set to become a major part of the international equestrian scene and provide yet another leisure activity for residents of the San Roque community. Seve Ballesteros has his Natural Golf School within the San Roque Club, where Seve's brother Vicente is the manager and also provides the high-class coaching for which he is justifiably famous. Seve is so impressed with the area that he is building his own house within the club grounds. Other leisure and sporting activities are also available within the resort's grounds and the San Roque Golf Club Hotel has several restaurants, providing the opportunity of dining out in luxurious surroundings without going far from home. The hotel itself is centred on a magnificent mansion, previously the home of the Domecq family, of sherry fame. The accommodation, 50 suites and 50 double rooms, is in individual bungalows set in what was originally the garden of the family home. Designed in the traditional style, the bungalows are adjacent to a lagoon-style swimming pool with shady terrace and bar. The hotel is also popular as a centre for small conferences.

Should you ever feel the need to tear yourself away from the San Roque Golf Resort's many attractions, Valderrama and Sotogrande are only minutes away, with Sotogrande's prestigious International School just down the road, while the smart resort of Marbella is getting ever nearer; the N340's ongoing improvements mean that, with a clear road, Marbella and Puerto Banus are less than a 30 minute journey away. Gibraltar can be reached in less than a quarter of an hour and Malaga Airport is now only an hour's journey time away.

The Fairway Green development is proving as popular as the developers Promaga hoped it would be. Construction commenced in April and more than half the units have already been sold. With prices ranging from 383,000 to 852,500 Euros, it is expected that the rest of the units will be sold well before the completion date, which is set for July 2003.
