La Quinta, in Marbella's 'Golf Valley', is known for its 27-hole golf course, its luxurious five-star Westin La Quinta Hotel and convention centre and, increasingly, for its Mediterranean village-style residential developments. A new development which is sure to attract more attention to the area is Oasis de La Quinta, a complex of 55 two- and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes set within their own lush tropical gardens and surrounded by a green golf course.

Designed by the prestigious Melvin Villarroel Roldan architectural practice, the residences in Oasis de La Quinta are being constructed in two three-storey blocks, with six or seven residences on each landing. They are being built to an extremely high standard, with reinforced concrete foundations and structure, insulated both externally and in party walls. The buildings are finished with a rustic-finish render painted with exterior-quality coloured acrylic paint. The aluminium windows are double-glazed and have weather protection. Terraces are paved with decorative porcelain tiles and there are wooden pergolas on some terraces; duplex terraces have built-in barbecues. The plant containers are served by an automatic watering system - a useful touch, given the long, hot summers we enjoy!

Internally, the apartments are spacious, with between 140 and 212 square metres of living area and between 50 and 122 square metres of terrace area. They are finished to a luxury standard, with cream marble flooring and skirting in the living room, corridors and bedrooms and cream Gres tiles in the kitchen. Bathrooms have floors of floating slab to provide for underfloor heating. The terraces have decorative Gres tiles with a porcelain finish. There are all the fittings that are essential in constructions of this quality - fitted wardrobes, digital safe, alarm pre-installation, recessed lighting in corridors and bathrooms, self-coloured terracotta wall lighting brackets in main living areas, telephone, radio and television sockets in living room and bedrooms, with audio system pre-installation in those rooms plus bathrooms and terraces. Kitchens will have all wall furnishings, together with all necessary electrical appliances, either Siemens or Bosch, with integrated washing machine and dryer; there will be granite wall tiles and a granite worktop. Bathrooms are luxurious, with ivory cream marble wall tiles and fittings, including sink surround, bath panel and shower tray. The main bathrooms have a Jacuzzi, while secondary bathrooms have hydromassage showers. Interior bathrooms are to have extractor-aided ventilation. All apartments have at least one parking space in the underground garage, as well as a storeroom.

The grounds of Oasis de la Quinta are surrounded by the golf course and are completely fenced, with a controlled gated entrance; they are planted with abundant tropical plants and attractively finished. There are to be two outdoor swimming pools and a social club, within which will be found sanitary facilities, changing rooms and a gymnasium. The spacious grounds provide plenty of privacy for residents, enhanced by the surrounding greens of the La Quinta course. While La Quinta itself has many amenities, residents of Oasis de La Quinta will also find themselves within easy reach of all the Costa del Sol's attractions. Transport is easy with the improved roads in the region, and both Malaga and Gibraltar airports are within half an hour's travelling time - a plus point to the international clientele this lovely development is sure to attract.

Prices for the residences in this attractive complex are very reasonable, given the location of the development and the care lavished in its construction and finishing. Two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments are from 440,000 Euros, with three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments starting at 598,000 Euros. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom duplexes with their enormous terraces start at 762,700 Euros. Construction has already started and the apartments should be ready for occupation by November-December 2004.
