Many consumers may think that engaging in activities that support sustainable development is difficult. We want to highlight the environmental and climate impacts related to the manufacture of products, so that you, as a consumer, have easily accessible information that allows you to make more sustainable choices. As trusted experts, we want to help our customers make more sustainable choices while enjoying amazing technology.
We strive to reduce the impact of (new) products and to guide our customers to choose more energy-efficient and durable products, and at the same time to help extend the service life of customers products by providing information on the availability of spare parts and maintenance and support services.
Currently, there is no standardized method for determining environmental parameters. We know that the situation regarding the standardization of environmental parameters will develop, but we are already ready to take the first steps to promote it. We continue to challenge our suppliers to reduce their environmental footprint and to extend the lifespan of the products they manufacture.
Little by little, as more and more customers change their consumption choices towards a better future, all of our environmentally conscious choices will eventually have a big impact. Our work does not end when the customer leaves the store. Our task is to ensure that the customer gets as much benefit as possible from his products for a long time.
We want to make upgrading and repairing electronics easy and profitable. However, we cannot do it alone. In keeping with our vision of 100% repair-ability of household appliances and electronics, we encourage all suppliers and the entire industry to design products that can be repaired and used again and again.
We have therefore asked our suppliers for information on how many years the spare part of the product will be available after the product is no longer manufactured. By choosing the product we offer, we can influence the realization of responsibility the most. We strive to challenge our suppliers to reduce their environmental footprint and to extend the lifespan of the products they manufacture. Currently, there is no standardized method for measuring the expected lifetime of a product, so the current lifetime estimation is based on each supplier’s unique calculation method. We have requested an explanation of how each supplier has estimated the expected life of the product, and this information is attached to the documentation folder on the product page.
