Taking care of your skin is important. It is one of the most noticeable things about your body that everyone sees. Regardless of skin conditions or problems, there are basic steps to taking care of skin that everyone can do. These things do not have to be expensive or cost a bundle of cosmetic supplies. There are several natural remedies that can help you maintain your skin’s appearance and save you a bundle in expenses.

The first thing you need to do is keep your skin clean and cleanse areas such as your facial area. Pores can become clogged or blocked which leads to pimples and other skin problems if not properly cleansed. While some pimples and problems may happen regardless of the cleansing process, cleaning is a good prevention and the first step to treating these things.

Instead of spending a small fortune on facial cleansers, try using a natural remedy that you may already have on hand in your home. Or you can combine witch hazel with a lightly scented oil concentrate, such as lavender, and a few caps of aloe Vera gel to make a nice refreshing face cleanser. It can be stored in an airtight container and used daily.

Foods found in your pantry can also be used to cleanse your skin. If you have yogurt in your refrigerator, rub this on your face. Wash it off with a washcloth. Did you serve oatmeal for breakfast? Put the cooled, leftovers to good use and use those to cleanse your face and rinse clean. Oatmeal is also good at providing some moisture while cleansing.

Avocado pulp can also be used to gently cleanse while moisturizing dry skin. Milk can be used as a cleanser as well. If you mix some milk with your cooled oatmeal and apply it to your skin, you will cleanse and moisturize. You have also just used the two key ingredients in the expensive Aveeno products.

After cleansing, be sure you exfoliate your skin. You can do this with a gentle sponge designed for the purpose or look for natural products. For natural exfoliation, bananas are a great fruit you can use. Rub this gently over your skin. Then wash. If you used the milk and oatmeal to cleanse, it also gently exfoliated.

You can also mix sea salt with a few drops of your favorite scented oil. This provides a natural exfoliation. You can store this mixture in an airtight jar or container and use it again and again.

After you have exfoliated, you will want to moisturize your skin. Any lotion or cream can be used for this purpose. Or you can use a bit of petroleum jelly. Aloe Vera can provide moisture to your skin as well as provide your skin with a soothing, refreshing feel.

After putting all of this effort into your skin, do not let it be in vain. Take care to hydrate yourself with enough water and this will also help your skin’s appearance. Use cucumbers to relieve any puffiness around your eyes. Use good sunscreen when working or playing outdoors. Protect your skin from the elements, feed your skin well, and start a good skincare routine.
